Wayfinding / Greening:
(4 out of 4 Fishes)
Great wayfinding! One of the best. Large sign out near Eichelberger. Even signs pointing to correct door to enter. Inside, space was fairly small for the size of line, so the line had to twist back and forth which made orienting for ordering a little confusion, but there were plenty of workers helping get everyone's orders. After you pay, you get an order number and they bring your food to your table. Greening was fair. No condiment packets, but styrofoam cups and recycling wasn't evident.
Food:
Diversity was the strength. Where else can you get entrees like Chile Relleno, Tacos, Flautas, and Fried Quesadillas at a fish fry. Cod was only so-so. Just a breaded square with little taste. But everything else made the food worthwhile. Another treat was the chips and incredible sasla that was available while you wait for your food.
Value:
$7.50 for a plate and includes lemonade. $20 for a family meal which includes 5 entrees, 4 sides, and 4 lemonades. Even for two adults, the family meal is a good choice as a way to sample everything. $2 beer, $3 Coronas, $3 chips and salsa.
Atmosphere:
One of the friendliest fish fries ever! At every stage, whether ordering, getting napkins, or getting your food, St. Cecilia's volunteers were making sure everything was OK. Cozy cafeteria was abuzz with people and background music. Even outdoor seating (although it is in the parking lot).
Overall:
3 out of 4. A destination to try at least once. It will definately be a fish fry you'll remember.

Year End Reviews
Sometimes it is hard to compare fish fries from year to year. Comparing that Cod from 2014 to 2008 can be a little tough. With that in mind, below is a yearly re-cap for each of the following years. We got a little busy in 2015, then 2017-2019 went by in a blur, so we are missing a few years, so sorry!

Fan Poll Winners - Best Fish Fry
Every year Friday Night Fish hosts a fan poll to crown a yearly fan favorite Fish Fry. It's a two step process with Round 1 selecting five finalists, and Round 2 voting from the final five to crown the yearly fan champion. So get ready every year for the annual poll and get your supporters voting for your favorite fish fry! We had some voting "irregularities" in 2014, so we discontinued the poll (for now).

Please note that at least in 2009 they had church tours available given by Jr High / HS students. A definite plus!! Hopefully they'll be back this year!
ReplyDeleteWhat an atmosphere! Noisy, but so much fun! It makes everyone smile and talk with each other. Very good food!

Love the atmosphere and the jack samon is great. Need to work on their process flow of getting people through quickly. Most of the time there is at least an hour wait.
ReplyDeleteVisited there on the 19th. Great food, terrific atmosphere. The prices have increased a bit $8 meal/ $21 for family meal.
ReplyDeleteThe entree choices were jack salmon, cod, shrimp, bean tostada, chile relleno and fried cheese quesidilla. They were selling chips and pico or nacho cheese and also tamale for $2 each.
Entertainment- dancers and strolling band.
Loved the church tour! What a gorgeous worship space.
We arrived at 4pm, it opened at 4:30, we ordered at about 4:50 and got our food about 15 minutes later. When we left at about 6 the line wrapped around the gym and out the door and around the parking lot!
Had St. Pius V...it was good. St. Cecilia's was way better. We went twice this season to St. Cecilia's and can't wait for next year.
ReplyDeleteDue to traffic we arrived at the church at 5:40pm, no signs or wayfinding on the way there but we followed the crowd. Unfortunately, we did not get to place our order until around 8:10pm and then waited until 9:00pm to receive the food. It was after 9:30pm when we finally left. Don't order the chile relleno if you are wanting your food quickly, they make each one by hand. You can pay for VIP seating or order online.
